Living on the banks of the river Spree
Berlin - 317 apartments on the banks of the river Spree – an ideal spot for young people. The residential complex on Fließstraße is intended to provide accommodation primarily for students.
A large proportion of Germany’s 2.8 million students rely on affordable apartments. However, the supply of affordable housing is limited. An increase in student numbers has further exacerbated the situation in recent years. The lack of supply of small and micro apartments frequently leads to mis-allocation of larger, family-type apartments for use as shared student residences.
Yet a welcome trend is now emerging, with more and more private investors rolling out projects for student accommodation. Investments in this area have quadrupled since 2011. The establishment of the Bundesverband für Studentisches Wohnen (Federal Association for Student Accommodation) also shows just how important this topic is regarded. The aim of the BfSW is to encourage the development of special housing units for students.
A modern residential complex was completed in 2017 in Berlin’s Niederschöneweide district, which overlooks the river Spree. 317 apartments spread between two buildings were developed and delivered as fully furnished 1 and 1.5 room apartments with kitchen and balcony. Facilities tailored to the needs of students are provided on the ground floor: laundry, community and recreation rooms offer lots of opportunities for residents to meet and engage.
Students enjoy HARO Tritty 100 – the robust floor
When it came to choosing the right floor covering for the student apartments, Schrobsdorff Bau AG looked no further than HARO, installing HARO Tritty 100 in all 317 apartments. Living and learning therefore take place on a total area of just under 10,000 m² in Plank 1-Strip Alpine Oak Nature style.
The authentic/matt surface of the plank 1-strip style is scarcely distinguishable from real wood. Texture and style match perfectly. The surface has a natural oil character, which is emphasised additionally by the slight gloss effect in the pore.
Installing the floor with HARO’s ComforTec technology offers the advantage of reduced indoor sound. Floors that have a fixed connection to the substrate are audibly quieter. The ComforTec boards with self-adhesive strips on the rear allow full glue-down installation on the substrate in the shortest imaginable time and without the need for any additional adhesive.
